I've read several reviews about the bedspread shrinking in the wash. One review said they bought a size up, then washed and fitted her bed perfectly. I have a queen bed but I use king size pillows so it seemed like a personal choice. I bought a king size bedspread with king size overlays, then washed it in hot water and tumble dried normally. . Unfortunately the linens didn't shrink as much, but the beautiful rich garnet color faded to a pale brick red. It was my fault. I should have known better. A plus, the beautiful embossed pattern hasn't changed after washing in hot water, just the colour. The padding fits my king size pillows, but I have to trim and hem the two sides of the bedspread. (My mattress and my box springs are 8 inches high.) If your mattress is the same, I recommend you purchase according to your bed size, machine wash cold, and tumble dry on low heat according to directions. The only exception would be if you have a really thick mattress and box springs. Note. The two photos I have provided show the original color of the bedspread in the small pillows and the faded color of the bedspread. I really like the different shades and am happy with the result.
