Review on Create Realistic Skin Tones With Derwent ColourSoft Skintone Pencils In A Metal Tin - 6 Count by Erin Brown

You won't regret it.

These are probably the best colored pencils I've used by far. I've been using Prismacolor Softcore for years but the points always break very easily, even while sharpening. I guess it was a convenience factor and it was the only ones available at my local store when i was younger so i stuck with it.Recently I've decided to use color again but i didn't want to go through the frustrations i had to prisma and decided to go with Derwent Coloursoft ( since i have a set of the graphite and they are amazing as well). I could tell the different immediately as I sharpen my first pencil - the color, the wood were perfectly aligned and got a sharp point on the first try! The point didn't break as easily as prismas would when you applied pressure on paper, it was awesome and worth every penny. The range of the 72 are simply amazing - and blends very well, a burnisher would make it shine. I went for the 72 first because getting a smaller pack usually mean i don't have the range i need for testing - and would make me spend more eventually. I used to think Prisma was top of the line - but other brands are so much better, don't go for convenience- I think these are cheaper as well. The prisma grey scale markers are still nice though - i still use them. The prisma pencil quality are trash.

Pros
  • The colors are long-lasting and do not fade easily
Cons
  • Difficult to get a smooth gradient
