I installed this ladder at the stern of a 20ft cove and it has withstood heavy traffic and high salinity. Looks as new as the day I installed it. It is best to tie a rope to the bottom step so that the last person to climb the ladder brings the rope. This eliminates the cumbersome process of having to swing half your body over the back of the transom to hold on to the bottom half of the ladder. Just pull the line up and the bottom half folds up nicely and easily.
