Why Revain asked me to rate the volume control and picture quality for it remains a mystery - neither is true. My TV's only audio output is optical, the only cable I have from the TV to the AV receiver is coaxial. I originally hooked up an old Radio Shack box I had with exactly the same functionality as this one. But there were occasional drops of tone that became frequent at times. After troubleshooting to fix cable or TV issues I thought I tried this. It's been running continuously for several days with no sign of an outage. Problem solved.
