Review on Convenient Durabox Through-The-Door Mail Drop Slot: Stainless Silver Letter Box Plate for Residential Use by David Tison

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks Nice, Difficult to Install

This letter slot looks very good and the price is insanely good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a small flaw in the design (in my opinion). The front and back plates are absolutely flat (a cut sheet of steel). Consequently, there is no rim at the same depth as the hinges holding the wings. This means you will need to cut a hole larger than the area where these hinges will be so you can screw the panels to the wall. We didn't want to fiddle with the pre-existing letterbox opening so we removed the outer flap and this panel leans slightly away from the door. The instructions that came with the mail slot don't include measurements for the perfect hole cut, so get ready to measure and cut some yourself.

Pros
  • INSTALLATION: The letter slot comes with 8 countersunk screws that allow the letter slot to be installed on a door with a minimum thickness of 3/8" and a maximum thickness of 1-7/8". . Detailed instructions are in the box.
Cons
  • The list will be long.
