. Purchases except on the rare occasion I'm pleased or appalled

I rarely review my many purchases on Amazon, except on the rare occasion when I'm excited or horrified. Here I am happy. The bottle came on a day when the outside temperature was above 30 degrees and very humid. As a test, I filled it about halfway with small ice cubes and then filled it up to the brim with cold tap water. I put it outside in the blazing sun. After 6 hours there is NO change. I poured out the water and there was half a bottle of ice left. Then I replaced the same water I had saved. Return to the sun, this time to the back of the house, because the sun has travelled! I actually postponed it to make sure it got the maximum amount of sun/heat for the rest of the day and by the evening very little ice had melted. Leave overnight (hot night) and the next day stand again in the sun and 90 degree heat. In the evening all the ice was gone, but the water was very, very cold. This is the bottle to go for when you need to keep the temp down seriously. I bought this for my son for day camp because I'm a drinking fanatic and I know he won't drink if the drink is warm. He did not want to bother me because for many years he used an ordinary plastic bottle, he was used to the fact that it was heated at 11 a.m. and did not believe it. Well, now he's a believer, as are many of his roommates and advisers. The instruction manual says not to use the bottle for hot liquids. However, this seems to be because the drinking hole is quite wide and not suitable for drinking, so the problem is burning your mouth and not damaging the bottle. So pour coffee into a cup? The only downside I see so far. It doesn't fit in a car cup holder, it's neither thin nor light. These aren't those plastic bottles that you grab with one hand, rip open the lid with your teeth, and drink. You need 2 hands. But it has a wrist strap and you can put it on its side, leakage is not a problem. I've been trying to get my teenage twins to drink at camp for years, but at lunchtime the water is just gross. The problem is solved. I would advise people not to overdo the ice cream because it won't melt during the day when you want to drink lots of liquids.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other alternatives
