Finally decided to get out of the paper world. I have three filing cabinets full of business and personal documents that I want to scan and store online. I looked closely at many scanners and decided to try this one. I've been using it for about a week and I'm not disappointed. The form factor is great as it sits quietly on my desk when not in use. Set up was very easy, nothing left to do but insert the CD, plug in the USB and power on. It took me a few minutes to understand the controls and touchscreen menu system, but now it's very easy. I've set up a few shortcuts with this option on the touchscreen depending on what I need to scan and they work fine. Open the lid and it turns on automatically, flip the top back, stick your ears out and you're good to go. What surprised me was the speed of scanning and the quality of duplex scanning. Perfect as any scanner I've ever used. The speed per side is about 1.5 seconds. I scanned an 11 page color document, double sided, and everything was perfect. I like the fact that it ejects blank pages. So with probably 75 documents scanned I am very happy with this Brother scanner. The only thing left to do is see how long this will work and I hope I don't know until this job is done. One more thing, I scanned some documents that were folded with severe creases for a long time. I just folded them the other way and they went right through the scanner. Exhibited pages as recommended in the manual seem to really help. So without knowing his MTBF I would highly recommend this to anyone. UPDATE: 9+ months later and it's still working great. I'm glad I bought this scanner.
