Good handheld fish finder for boats

Originally I had an earlier version of this handheld echo sounder. It took about 6 years and failed due to salt water penetration. This new model has a much improved water locking method and looks like it will last a lot longer. It's easy to use a simple slide switch to get water temperature/depth. However, it can be confusing which metric is displayed. If you see the temperature, dip in and try again, or vice versa. To get an accurate water temperature, the device must be immersed in water for a minute or two, otherwise you will read a version of the air and water temperature. The temperature sensor is initially stable at air temperature, so it takes some time to cool down/warm up to water temperature. Otherwise I've found this to be a reliable and great way to ensure the water depth is shallower than my crab float! Otherwise this is a good trap and poses a hazard to the boat. Therefore this device is kept on our boat during Dungeness crab season.
