Oh my god, why aren't these remotes the default when you sign up for DirecTV? I used a non-backlit remote in my home theater for a year and wished it had a backlight. Well, one of the originals got the red light of death, so I went in search of a replacement. And so! backlight! If I had known about this, I would have bought a few sooner. It's actually slightly heavier than the RC73 it replaces, which I think is a good thing. It has the same button functionality as the original, with the added benefit of being able to see what I'm pressing. No more "two less, more than three, SHIT, wrong button" mental processing when watching TV. The jury isn't close to battery life with the added drain of the backlight, but it seems to turn off fairly quickly, so I don't think it's going to drain batteries too much. If so, I'll update my review.
