I'm a NASA admin, I have a lot of data that needs to be downloaded from old space shuttle computers before we break them down into parts, and you know what - all space Shuttles take 3.5 inch floppy disks. I could find dozens of floppy drives online that work with modern USB ports, but hardly any floppy media! Astrometric data from a $7.45 billion flying laboratory is not very cost effective. But these discs did their job. They were affordable, in good condition, and I was able to transfer all 11.6MB of information from the Atlantis shuttle's computer in record time - just 4 hours!
