EDIT: I just bought these again and they came without the blue plastic! The dream came true! They're great for the Christmas decorations we're going to make out of them. However, the metal parts are covered with a blue plastic film (perhaps to prevent scratches) which was very tedious and annoying to remove. Since the plastic is blue it will be pretty obvious and ugly unless you remove every little detail. For people unwilling to spend more than 5 minutes on each ring to slowly and carefully remove the plastic, this may not be for you. If those kinds of things don't bother you, they were great. :)
