Fantastic Gasket/Sealant Maker

Just Rebuilt 5.7L Chevy Engine. Ussd Ultra Black only. Not only a great gasket maker, but also a great adhesive. No other product needs to be used.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • New Competitors Appeared

Wear gloves.: Putties, adhesives, and sealants

My hands have never looked so manly. They have a lot of black dirt stuck to them that won't go away. But seriously, work with this stuff with gloves on. It's disgusting. But it's definitely tacky and marine.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Not bad

Great product, one flaw.

Good product. Protects my Miata from unwanted valve cover leaks. There is one complaint, however. It comes with a plastic nozzle that you screw on for easier application, but there's no cap on the nozzle. If you don't take it off and clean it every time, you'll end up with a useless nozzle when the product dries. Maybe add a cap or even a few extra attachments. Although the product works well!

  • Confident

Brake Fluid Resistance

My new Chinese master cylinder cap leaks like a sieve, no matter how tight the yoke is, I could have left the cap off. Instead of taking it off and sanding the flange, I was wondering if there was a brake fluid resistant sealant. I let the drip set overnight, then soaked in DOT-3 brake fluid for a week, rinsed and checked for softening, smearing, stretching, wear, discoloration, etc. No change so I am confident to use it on rubber seals and will. (when I get around to it) Wash and dry the…

Excellent RTV Sealant and Gasket Maker

This is amazing stuff. It's worth the price. I have used it separately on transfer cases and diff caps with no leaks. I've used it on a gasketed oil pan and it made installing the gasket a lot easier (again, no leaks). I've even used it to make a vacuum chamber seal: I let it dry for an hour, then loosely covered it with a lid to let it dry overnight. It sticks to the chamber, not the lid, providing the perfect seal and reusable seal. The best part is that you just stick the seal tube out a bit

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Efficiently sealed gas filler line

Used with Ultra Black to seal a gas filler hose that has become detached from the gas tank. The part to replace it cost over $1,000 plus labor so I saved a lot, lot of money. Put on 5 layers to be on the safe side (sometimes when the weather is 20 degrees). Not sure if this is a long term solution at this point (will be updated in 6 months) but I just filled my gas tank and there were no leaks in the fill line. I can add another layer of Seal-All or another Permatex liner just in case. Very…

Great for resealing Uncapping i7-8700Ks

I used Permatex Ultra Black to reseal my i7-8700k computer processor after "uncapping" it (removing the IHS) and replacing the thermal paste with liquid metal. difficult. This seal is very good for resealing 8700k and will probably work fine with i7-7700k or any other bad cpu if common sense is used; This means you're applying an ultra-thin layer - thinner than the factory seal if you're looking to overclock. Bottom. This was done with a plastic Shopping Promotion card (optional Game Stop…

Excellent product with many non-automotive uses

Permatex 82180 Ultra Black is a versatile material due to its excellent performance. You don't have to think of it as some sort of junk intended solely for garage use. It is odorless, rinses off with acetone, spreads well from the tube, cures quickly, bonds to a variety of normally resistant materials, and cures into a hard but pliable mass. High heat resistance and adhesion to vulcanized material. I use it for gluing rubber feet to oven grates; - Exceptional hardness-flexibility ratio. I've…

  • Delivery was very fast

  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Best stuff I've ever used

I seem to use this stuff daily (not really but quite often) as a mechanic. We get it in a 10 ounce tube for use in a caulking gun (called the right stuff, basically the same stuff but a little thicker and dries faster). I'm talking about things that smell like vinegar, that's different. It adheres to surfaces much better than standard RTV and is said to have better oil resistance. I've used it as the sole gasket on transmission pans, differential covers, etc. I clean the surfaces very well with

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Nothing here
