Review on Soundbar Sony HT-CT290/HT-CT291 by Hayden Xin ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the quality is good, the price is reasonable.

Despite the many disadvantages, shortcomings that I wrote about, in general, it is better than the built-in speakers of the KD-55XF8596 TV. That's what's really annoying so far - this is the deafness of the subwoofer at a medium-low playback volume level. Moreover, Sony is cunning: on a TV set, when you switch sound modes from the speakers of the TV set or an external audio system, it plays the TV set quietly, and you get the feeling of inferiority of the TV speakers, but turn it up louder, and the only thing that is felt is the plane of the sound, you need to compare at levels equivalent in dB . Why did I take it and not something like 5.1. Yes, it's downright expensive. For 14000, that's how much I paid for the Sony soundbar with all the discounts and coupons, it will do. Movies, games from consoles, feel much more alive. But I listened to relatively expensive systems for 50-100k, of course, it cannot be compared with this, but for those who do not want to spend a lot, it will do.

Pros
  • - really concise discreet design, no frills - the build quality is really good, I could not find fault with either the bar or the sub - for 2.1 at a volume of 60-80%, the sound really seems voluminous, worthy - there is an HDMI ARC port, I have a KD-55XF8596 TV set and the TV remote control works - there is a front "screen" in fact, just LED inscriptions for switching output modes via cable, via air, sound mode 2 (movie and music) where, comrades Sony, is the equalizer full-fledged?
Cons
  • - subwoofer unfortunately just for show (it becomes audible only at 80-90% volume, when the bar is already yelling) - there is a separate sub volume level on the remote control, but it does not change anything at low levels of the overall volume. I am disappointed. If there was a wire for a subwoofer - I would have connected it better. - no equalizer settings - when playing via Bluetooth with Iphone XS max, the sound is flat, as if there is no bass at all, and the middle ones are generally blurry - I didn’t understand why the USB input was on the bathroom bar, I inserted external devices, it’s not visible on the TV set that there are audio or video files (but I think this is my handshake, I haven’t figured it out yet). - No encryption protocol (password) for bluetooth, connect neighbors, turn up the music to the maximum! - could put the simplest HDMI in the kit
