I needed something to connect my headset to my laptop, but the combo connection on my computer is too ancient to work with newer headsets, so I purchased this adapter. I went straight to the website of the manufacturer and downloaded the driver; I didn't even bother testing the computer without it. On a machine running Windows 7 x64, everything functions without a hitch. Not only do I use it frequently for online conferences, but also for listening to music and watching movies. When compared to the sound produced by the device's internal components, the difference between basic headphones and high-quality headphones such as the Audio-Technica AD700x is immediately apparent. The volume and the level of detail are both improving at times. There is no ambient noise to be heard. The sound is quite distinct. The sound that is sent from the headset microphone is quite distinct and unmistakable. You should not have sky-high quality expectations for a budget model, but it is an excellent option for replacing the built-in solutions that are minimalistic in nature. If the services of a professional sound engineer are not required, then the amount of work required is typically reduced.
