I knew I was buying a cheap scanner but unfortunately it couldn't even get the advertised 1200dpi when scanning the negatives. Sure, an image stored on an SD card can be 1200 dpi, but every pixel is doubled horizontally. This leads me to believe that the sensor does indeed have a resolution of 1200dpi, but cannot move the film in small enough increments to properly capture it. Auto-framing is also an issue. I thought that a scanner that /knows/ that it is scanning 35mm negatives would understand that each image is 36mm * 24mm. I have cropped some of my dark photos, sometimes almost half the frame. In addition, he sometimes incorrectly determines the type of negative. I scanned the color negatives in black and white. I don't understand why exactly what the sensor sees isn't copied to the memory card for me to edit later, also as an option. I'm not sure why the card reader is so slow, but it is. It is slow to read images, both when saving and when reading them into a computer. Unfortunately, this means that the scanner has to buffer the image before it can save it. This means I can only scan 10 frames of film before it gives up and throws away the rest. Again, I wasn't expecting good colors or great hardware, but I was hoping the scanner wasn't programmed to do such stupid things - which I can't help since it's not a computer-connected scanner with options. This seems to be normal for printed photos. It has an issue with lines, but cleaning it up fixes that, as it does with every pair of photos. (The negatives don't seem to have much of this issue, just all the other issues listed) My scanner didn't come with the promised SD card with the Scan2PC software, so I can't figure out if I was able to set all the options on the Scan. I'm assuming that's not the case since the manual doesn't mention how to set options, if any.
