Worked well for 9 months. When I went to refuel today, water flowed out of the seam where the tank and base meet. After cleaning up the mess, I unplugged the unit, drained it and checked the flow valve, then thoroughly dried it to the bottom before adding half a gallon of reverse osmosis water. But when I plugged it in I heard a loud pop and knew immediately it had shorted out and died. He never saw a drop of our hard tap water. I had the model KC-MH-028 and I see there is another model currently on sale so you can't even trust these reviews for the item pictured above! The above item is a new design that has been redesigned so that the water tank is at the bottom instead of at the top. Absolutely different.
