I was looking for something to walk in, now I wear Xero sandals but wanted to try these chacos because they are really good for walking. Nothing is further from the truth. On the plus side, the harness design is brilliant! Unfortunately, this plus is overshadowed by a VERY heavy and thick sole. These pieces appear to weigh a few pounds and the height of the heel makes them look like high heels. It's good that the strap is so strong, otherwise you could never lift the boot to take a step. Whatever the case, simply walking in these things is like walking on stilts. I'm completely baffled as to why Chaco felt the need to put a chunky sole on an athletic sandal. I have ZERO ground feel and in them I feel like I have peripheral neuropathy. These are not "slip-on sandals" and every time you want to put them on you have to put your foot in the strap, so it's not even a comfortable pair of shoes. The sewn end of the ankle strap makes it impossible to cut after adjustment and hangs around your ankle all the time while you wear it. Chaco had to attach a webbing clip to the end, which allowed the wearer to cut off the excess and reattach the clip after heat sealing the end.
