Review on πŸ–‹οΈ Comgrow Violet Laser Engraving Machine by Derek Dolla

Revainrating 2 out of 5

NOT for Ender 5 Plus and has TWO HUGE design flaws.

The first thing I noticed when trying to install it on my Ender 5 Plus is that the electrical cord is too short at about 18 inches/45 cm. You can plug it into the system board and attach the printhead to it, but if you move the ore more than 2/3 in the y-axis, the cable will pull the laser. This is relatively easy to fix by adding a 12"/30cm extension to the cable. The laser module is held in place by MAGNETS only. No screws, nothing to stabilize it, just magnets. Even the vibration from moving stepper motors makes the but mine Biggest problem is this: I installed this module as instructed by them, when I initially realized that it wouldn't work without the extension cord, I took it off my head and put it on the table, then I started normal printing with PLA In some cases the laser was on while I was printing and is still on as I type this. What the heck? I have a blue laser shining across the room, not illuminating anything. I still like the idea of using this as a option for my printer so I'll leave it, I just need to fix what they basically designed wrong by adding an extension to the cable and adding an S switches or a way to turn off the laser if I want to print instead of etching.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
