I needed bookshelves. I researched this website and found several versions of almost identical bookshelves, except for small details and prices. What makes these bookcases sturdy are the crossbars that screw into the back of the unit, one on top and one on the bottom. Since each bookshelf has two rails, four screw holes must be drilled in the rails, pointing in the same direction. Since I was adding the crossbars to the latter, it was only after assembling BOTH bookshelves that I discovered that an appropriate number of screw holes were NOT drilled from the correct side of the bars to install the crossbars. Without the crossbars, these are kind of wobbly and useless shelves. I used a drill and added my own holes. Everything is OK. i am my own hero I would not recommend purchasing these shelves unless you are willing and able to make modifications. In this case it's a steal as they are identical to several other bookshelves sold at higher prices.
