Review on πŸ’š Mishimoto MMSK-GR Weighted Shift Knob in Vibrant Green for Enhanced Shifting Experience by Jeremy Byard

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It stands tall without any modifications and also basks in the sun.

Just to be clear I am happy with the switch so far. Maybe a little lower, but oh well. However, getting to this point took a little more work than I actually wanted. It's nice and heavy and seems to help with smoother shifting, albeit a bit longer due to the height. Ah, heights. I was replacing the original gear knob on my '08 Mazda 3 hatchback that finally came off the skin this summer (I mean 11 years old and 2 owners. Not bad). The size adapters that come with the handle are great for 3 except they don't go far on the threaded portion of the switch. maybe 1/3 inch. It might be ok if they screwed further into the handle itself, but they certainly don't. So your starting point (sorry I didn't take a picture) seems like your shifter is about 4 feet tall and you're driving an old Jeep Wrangler or something. Not to mention your swappable trunk sits where it normally would. Make your derailleur look like some kind of thin flamingo. Adapter with a switch so it sits at the bottom of the thread. Zippers on the inside of the boot to lift it up where it normally sits. It still feels slightly larger than the stock grip, but looks better than when it was first installed. A short front derailleur will probably get it right where it needs to be, but honestly it's not worth it on a car this age Note: It looks good, it's heavy and it's metal. etc. It gets hot in the sun in summer. Not scalding, but definitely a little uncomfortable for staying hot.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
