Great Brewing - Kitchen & Dining

There are many reviews of the Bonavita 8 Cup Coffee Maker and the Junior 1500TS 5 Cup Coffee Maker. I ordered it after extensive research. The most important thing for me was the end product. great coffee. I'm by no means a coffee snob, but I know what I like. For background, I love savory roasts (French and Italian), grind my beans daily, and have a Gaggia Classic espresso maker and a Breville bean grinder. Note that the Bonavita coffee maker is a very simple machine. No bells, no whistles, no programming features. The machine looks well made, easy to fill from above into the water tank on the left. The carafe is very well made and insulates well. There have been some complaints about the carafe's separate lid that houses the spout. I do not agree. The lid is very well made, can be easily screwed on with a great thread pattern and closes well. Does not leak even if the jug is turned upside down. There is no stove, which is what I wanted. I hate burnt coffee! My method is to pour hot tap water into the carafe to preheat it while I grind the beans. Fill the tank with cold water, place the filter basket on the carafe and place it under the shower head. Then press the power button and coffee will be brewed 5 minutes later. Remove the filter basket and replace it with a spout. The coffee is around 200°F, just how I like it. No fuss, no fuss. Lightweight, tidy and easy to clean. I've read complaints about having to pull the coffee maker out from under the cabinet to refill it. I also read that it is PITA to remove the filter basket to put the filler cap on the carafe. Both are steps in the process, but hardly difficult or problematic. This is a simple quality product with one of the best heaters in the business. I highly recommend it.
