Most expensive brushes I've ever owned

I'm primarily an amateur artist. I do calligraphy, tejip (gilding) and many other drawings, mainly using acrylic, watercolor and gouache paints. I have to say at the current list price of $75. These are the most expensive brushes I've ever owned. To be honest, when I use them I don't notice a huge difference in quality or impact on my work compared to other less expensive medium quality brushes. Nothing wrong with the brushes themselves, they are excellent brushes. The bristles appear to be of good quality. They don't pill when used and cleaned, they hold their shape fairly well, they're comfortable in the hand. They are clearly marked. Well, except for the little brush, which apparently came as a bonus. They hold quite a lot of ink, glide very well on paper, work great and clean up well. The only question I have is if they last longer than other less expensive brushes I've used to justify the price. The packaging left a lot to be desired. It was a good box and presentation but the elastics to hold the brushes in place and when they arrived half of the brushes were missing from the elastic holders. I'm sure they rolled all over the place during shipping but they didn't come out of their bandages, they didn't have enough room to move up and down to avoid the bandages meaning the firm simply should have sent this way. All of the brushes had plastic guards on top so the bristles were intact, but it still seemed odd to find them in such an expensive set.

Pros
  • Different brush diameters give me more control over my technique
Cons
  • Little things
