This scanner replaces one I have had for about 3 years. This is a much more massive, well-balanced device. The manufacturer incorrectly describes the stand as "foldable". No, that is not so; This is a two position stand (flat or 45 degree angle). You MUST hold the supplied paper booklet during use. , because it contains the barcodes needed to set up and operate the scanner. You'll use them every day and as I found with my latest scanner, losing the booklet means you end up locking the device yourself. It was trivially easy to connect to MacOS (Big Sur), scan various barcodes, type them directly into a document, or save them to a scanner for later transmission. It works fast and well. There is an eyelet on the underside of the handle so you can attach a tether (not included) or attach the scanner stand to a counter or other surface with a secure tether. Some argue that the stand is optional. No, that is not so; This is a Qi style cradle and there is NO cable to the scanner itself. You must use the cradle and if you wish to use a USB connection to your computer it must be through the cradle. The vendor says in the brochure that if your particular barcode doesn't scan, they will work with you, but I haven't encountered this situation and they don't provide any real contact information for this. Overall, though, this is a good solid scanner, especially if you've owned an entry-level barcode device and want to take it a big step further.
