I was getting nostalgic for the wooden folding rules I grew up with so I took a chance and ordered this one. This is very similar to what I remembered. This is the 72 inch rule. The markings are mostly black with the smallest intervals in semiquavers. There are red markings on 16", 32", 48" and 64". The marking is applied with paint, not hammered into the wood. The markings appear to be accurately drawn compared to some stainless steel rulers. The markings are legible on both sides, starting at zero on opposite ends. Folded dimensions 8" x 1ΒΎ" x β . Individual sections are β " thick, which is on par with the wooden binders I remember using. Brass hinges work well. The only stop is when one section matches the next section. I have a metric plastic binder that also has 90ΒΊ stops has, but this wooden binder doesn't. The hinges aren't too loose or too tight yet, meaning the ruler is well assembled. There's a thin 6" extension on one end. It reminds me of the middle section of a slide rule .It slides out and stops at 6". This is not what was on the wooden folders I've had experience with. Maybe it's of some use to me? All in all, this Lufkin wooden folding rule is exactly what I was looking for. I will amend this review if it falls apart or otherwise falls short of expectations.
