Supposedly the red light is on, indicating the air is heavily polluted. I've had this air purifier in a 8x10cm room for two weeks and the red light is on every day due to the terrible air quality. I have air filters and most of the rooms in the house. Sometimes they turn red for a few hours, but nothing remains. There are no smokers or pets in the house. So I don't know why it only shows bad air quality. In such a small space, I would imagine this air purifier would clean enough to keep everything in order. There are new windows, everything is sealed, so no air comes in from outside. I'm just disappointed in him. He's not loud. It mainly depends on the fan speed. However, you can set a quieter mode. I kept trying to get it to work over Wi-Fi with my phone. I just couldn't get it to work with the app on my phone. I was really excited about this feature and now I'm very frustrated that I can't use it in this way. Since the color is always red, I don't know if it really works to purify the air in the room.
