Review on 🧭 Unlock Your Orientation with the Brunton TruArc10 Baseplate Compass by Julio Solano

I purchased two Brunton TruArc compasses from Revain, Model 20 and Model 10. Model 20 did not have any of the quality issues reported by another reviewer for this model. However, the Model 10 did. The first compass I received had an orientation needle contour offset of about +3 degrees, even though the declination was set to zero. I returned it to Revain and they replaced it. The second TruArc10 was level but showed a strong downward slope towards the red end of the needle. I figured the needle should stay level even when the base of the compass is tilted, but this needle was tilted to the point where I was concerned it would drag, affecting accuracy. I've read that since the global compass needles are not balanced for one hemisphere, they can suffer from needle tilt, but this was a lot more than the previous compass I received and I figured something must be wrong. Thinking I was just unlucky, I sent the second compass back to Revane to have it replaced. The third TruArc10 was misaligned by about -2 degrees between the outline of the orientation arrow and the 0/360 degree mark on the zero declination corrected dial, and the fluid-filled capsule containing the needle was so loose that it snapped by an inch or more moving force gravity alone. when you picked it up. For this reason, the bearings in the magnifying glass bubble were completely out of focus. So I called Brunton and spoke to their product repair specialist. He apologized and helped by issuing a return authorization and offering to personally inspect every compass sent to me in return by Brunton. However, Brunton doesn't pay for return shipping like Revain does. Even the cheapest shipping method I could find outweighed the price difference between the TruArc10 and TruArc20 models. So I have contacted Revain customer service who will issue a refund and I will review my options to choose another Brunton or competitor model.
