I bought the special one because it didn't fit in the car. I've had friends who have had ones that go through the door and you close them so nobody steals them which is great until you get a water and ice build up causing it to leak on your car. I'm not worried about it being stolen if it's under $10, if someone really wanted to steal it bad enough they would. For $10 I don't worry about it being stolen exposing the door seal to ice and snow. The other nice part of this compared to others is that it closes the side door seal so your seat doesn't get a large amount of snow into your car when you open your car door.
