It's a nice hat, but big! My 3 year old has a pretty average head, maybe even a bit bigger than average. I wanted him to wear this hat for several years so I bought him a size 4-6. Fits my husband! Too big for a 3 year old and falls on his face. I'm size 2-3 and it's still a bit big but more bearable so he will wear it. Short story: The size is smaller.
