I bought these to replace the battery operated version which has been reliably illuminating my entryway for over a year. I held it at the foot of the baseboard and it turned on the moment I lifted my foot about six feet from the bed. The first set didn't notice any movement until I was about 20cm away. Instead of turning on automatically, I would have to activate it by walking straight towards it. It was bright enough when it worked, but useless for my purpose. I remade it next to the unit door because it required such close proximity to work. He died after about six weeks of service. Charged for several days and did not catch fire. Beware of fraudulent lifetime warranty claims in the ad. The seller replied twice and did not offer a refund or replacement. In the end the dead block came back to life and I re-ordered for other positions. They're fine when they work, but they waste energy turning on even in broad daylight. Sometimes they turn on by themselves with no movement. Sometimes it will be very dark. They don't last as long between charges as the battery-powered version.
