The macros are easy to create, you just need some knowledge of writing code in javascript (even that is not difficult).The support from Atlassian could be better - I feel like we have had requests go unanswered or ignored by their customer success manager team over email for weeks at times rather than responded quickly when contacting them directly via ticketing system. Also it took me ages before my colleagues got used using the macro feature! Try out this plugin if your looking into creating custom formatting rules within confluences rich text editor interface without needing developer skills!! It's also great because its totally free unlike other similar plugins which charge per use/month etc..
