Review on πŸ”² Scosche FD1428B: The Perfect ISO Double DIN Dash Kit for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury 2001-05 - Black by Brett Jarvis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fits the 2005 Explorer fairly well with a few small modifications.

This kit was suitable for installing a Pioneer FH-X700BT on my 2005 Ford Explorer. I had to drill through holes that align the mounting frame with the centering pins on the car so that it fits completely against the car's mounting frame. Also, I had to cut out the slots on the side brackets an additional 2-3mm to access the farthest screw holes on the back of the main unit (I felt I had to do this to get extra rigidity, like this is the case with the bottom bracket 't can be installed on my setup - see below). Also, it "turned out" that there wasn't enough clearance in the top corners, but the car's skin fits well so that doesn't seem to be a problem - it just didn't look right when I installed it, but it did it. It is impossible to mill it without breaking the side and front connecting joint. Finally, this kit includes a rear/bottom bracket for added mounting rigidity. Unfortunately, the FH-X700BT doesn't offer mounting points for this mount, so I installed it without it, but even without it the setup feels pretty solid.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
