This book kind of eluded my attention for most of the year. When I was looking for some new, light-hearted reading material, I jumped on this one and dived right in. He trudges through his personal hell visiting Key's cheap restaurants. We are introduced to the titular "razor girl" who behaves like the normal "free spirit" in Hayasen's book. It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what, but I felt that this book took some time to "unfold" in the way Hayasen's excellent previous books did. The arc and characters squirm before they really pick up steam, ostensibly because Hiaasen has learned to write in his old style. Razor Girl demonstrates cultural significance by emulating Duck Dynasty village culture in a subplot that eventually becomes the focal point. All in all, this is a very worthwhile read, if not as poignant as much of Hiasen's earlier "adult" work.
