When I first opened the box containing the "Betta" log, I thought it looked very cute. BUT after working with it and upon closer inspection I found that it has many sharp ends and edges; If you run your finger over the holes, it's razor sharp! There was a protrusion on the underside as sharp as a needle point that could have hurt my betta's tummy! The overall appearance feels very rough with many sharp areas. While it looks more realistic than most aquarium magazines and is quite attractive, it's too dangerous if you don't sand it down completely inside and out! However, I tried sanding and now that the color was white is visible. π The bottom is so thin and brittle that it broke when I tried to sand the inside of the hole from one end. I feel like my money was wasted and that's a shame because it's so attractive. I wish I had one like some of the others here who said they didn't have sharp edges. This definitely should NOT be called a betta log and I don't think it's safe for fish IF it has all those very sharp sections in it. like mine. If the manufacturer can fix the problem that would be great, or if the seller can send a replacement that isn't hot. :(
