I have tried many different gaiters over the years and I like this design with a zipper instead of the usual velcro. A big bonus is that it zips up from the top down. So if you need to tie your laces while hiking, just undo the bottom part and you can access your boots without opening your gaiters (other brands use velcro if you have to) in the middle of a hike in deep snow it can be tricky at times to close these guys again - not so with this zipper). I also like the secure clip that keeps the upper on the foot much better than competing brands. A minor complaint is that this particular clip has larger gaps than the Armadillo LT and therefore clogs when riding in deep snow, making it very difficult to disengage the tip of the clip until you're digging through the snow. But with a top-down zip, it's usually not necessary until you get back in the car.
