Save some money and buy the Aquantia AQN-107

Overall, this card doesn't appear to be significantly better than the Aquantia AQN-107, which offers similar features and costs $20 less. Both use Aquantia chipsets. If everything works, the ASUS card is great. 10 GBe for $100 is cool though. there is always a but. The ASUS card often falls out and stops working. It can usually be reset using the Windows Network Troubleshooter, but sometimes it says the cable is disconnected and a reboot may be required. That's just not acceptable for networking in 2018; it should work all the time, every time. This was my first experiment with a 10G/MultiGigabit network, so I bought both an ASUS card and an Aquantia AQtion 10G Pro NIC AQN-107 network card. I was curious to see if ASUS outperformed the Aquantia card since it was more expensive. I know both cards use Aquantia chipsets, but I can't tell if they're the same version as ASUS doesn't publish that information in their specs. So far I haven't had any issues with the Aquantia card as I was almost ready to return the ASUS card. So far, the extra $20 has only given me problems. Before sending the card back, I decided to swap out the cards to make sure there weren't any problems with the PC the card was in. This process was somewhat instructive. When swapped out the ASUS card picked up the Aquantia driver on another PC, seems to be working fine. I plagued it with a large file transfer that almost certainly would have knocked out the ASUS card sooner. I also kept the remote window open for 24 hours without shutting it down. The Aquantia card did not work with the ASUS driver when switching. I had to install the Aquantia driver and then it started working. The ASUS driver was released in April 2017. The Aquantia driver, on the other hand, is dated April 23, 2018, a year later. It seems that if ASUS had bothered to update the driver, their card might not have had these issues. The card was supposed to be 4 stars but I downgraded it to 1 star because it just doesn't work with the manufacturer's driver. I gave it an extra star when I found it worked with the Aquantia driver, but that's not really what I need to do.
