Review on SL Aqua Z 1 by Tammy Strinden

Not only does it kill planarians, it also kills snails a few weeks after removal.

*** See October 2018 update below *** I had a planarian infestation due to the local aquarium not using plant quarantine procedures. There were no neritic slugs in the contaminated tanks. It took several doses and several weeks to get rid of the planarians. After two 50 percent water changes and two weeks of running a carbon filter, oatmeal and nerite were added to the tanks. After 24 hours, the Nerites began to behave sluggishly and eventually died. The lamb snail also slowed down, but most recovered. Two have died. The only way to use a tank again was to completely clean it and set it up from scratch. The second tank has had several water changes and additional activated carbon filtration, but the unnerved snails still show signs of degradation. The extract used is expected to be biodegradable, and water changes and use of a charcoal filter should remove any residue. To still be present in the substrate after all the time and effort to remove it, the concentration needs to be higher than specified. *** Update October 2018 *** This does not kill all planarians. The treated main tank has not undergone any changes other than regular water changes. After writing the first review, the planarians are back. All snails exposed to this effect died. The only way to get the second tank clean was to do a full cleaning and rebuild.
