My hard-of-hearing sister was staying with me for a few months and she needs the TV volume turned way too loud for me. I got these headphones (and also had to purchase a bluetooth transmitter for my older TV) for her. She was able to listen to TV, and said she could understand the voices more clearly, and I could listen at lower volumes at the same time, or even turn the TV to mute while she listened via the headphones. I also took these on a plane trip and was able to plug them into the on-plane TV and listen at the same time blocking out the disturbingly loud engine noise. Now that my sister is no longer staying with me, I'll continue to use these for airplane trips to block out engine noise.
