This unit looks solid and well built, I have ordered a roemer as a replacement and will comment on that separately. Many other reviews have commented on the noise this device makes. . I got mine, connected it to the base of my 60 lb artificial tree and plugged it in. There is a very audible knocking noise, probably the automatic reverse clutch preventing it from turning when stuck and should reverse it in that situation. I tried again with the bottom and middle parts of the tree but it didn't work. was only tolerably quiet when the cord was accidentally wrapped around the base, I could never get it to be quiet all the time. at the top and could be either an artifact or the cause of the noise. Everything else worked fine but I want to make sure you have a free return policy before I buy any of these. Noise probably won't bother you if you're playing music or have a crowd, but in a quiet room it is.
