Probably works great with the original clamps but I bought it to use with RAM mounts because it claims to work with RAM and standard 1 -inch applications is compatible. hard plastic compared to the rubber coating on the RAM mounts and works fine for light stationary use, but the wind and vibration from my bike on the move will cause it to sag. As others have noted, with RAM it never feels entirely secure and will move in the joint no matter how tight it's tightened. It's slightly smaller than a 1" RAM ball (25mm = 0.98") and the material is too slick, although a thin strip of double-sided tape will help.
