Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Your Audio Experience with Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Sound Card (70SB006003007) by Rushabh Bear

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good, Old Stanby on internals

I have a windows 2003 system and need basic audio for the media server and also if I want to play music. I don't need amazing features etc. I've tried several other cards, Audigy sound card and SIIG CMedia. Both caused the system to crash when loading the driver. This card fits the bill. This is the gold standard for basic audio support. The card is 32-bit PCI, half-length, full-height and works on almost all operating systems. The card I received was 1102:0006, it was Dell version 5.1. Nothing special from SB Live! The Value Version is different from the Device ID, but you need to select the correct driver package from Creative's website. This card has a gold connector for digital audio output. It also has a line-in, line-out, microphone and speaker for traditional audio functions. It supports 5.1 and has a D-Sub15 midi connector. Internal connections include a 4-pin audio jack for Aux, CD and Digital - everything you've come to expect from basic sound cards for the last 15 years. The drivers were released a few years ago. before, but that's fine for 2003 and earlier, macOS and Linux. YMMV running Vista, Win7, Win8, and 2008. If you need something with large sample bank RAM, 7.1 optical output, 96-bit DAC, etc., then this card isn't for you. However, if you're looking for basic audio for business, light gaming, and media services, this is an inexpensive and reliable way to get just that.

Pros
  • Same as all before
Cons
  • For retirees
