Review on Bouquet on Black Floral Pattern Needlepoint Kit - DIMENSIONS, 14'' x 14'' by Sasha Hsiao

The end result should be beautiful, all materials are of good quality.

I love this set. It's easy to use as the pre-marked colored canvas is virtually invulnerable to idiots, although I shouldn't overestimate my ability to follow directions. The topics are pre-sorted and assigned to a project. Apparently earlier versions of this kit were marked with black and white markings, which are typical markings for embroidery kits. In fact, I colored all the flowers with the appropriate shades and color changes. I wish the manufacturer was a little more logical on how to shade the set. You would expect the gray thread to turn grey, but no, it turns blue, purple means dark red (although there are areas of purple). Here, too, there is confusion: if you look at the picture, you see the coloring in one direction; If you look at the paper map, it seems to point to a different path; If you look at the canvas shading above and try to match it with numbered color swatches, it will be something else entirely. I just winged it. If I choose the wrong color, so be it. It also annoys me a little that sometimes you end up with a tiny speck - say 4 stitches - of a certain color in the middle of nowhere. I don't think it's necessary to be that realistic and after a few of these I just ignored them and used the ambient colors. Rose, in particular, is downright schizophrenic - every color you can think of is reminiscent of a rose that (hopefully) doesn't exist in nature. The harmony is so good in this set. If you put a certain color in the wrong place, it still blends into the whole. You can also buy embroidery floss in a different color if you want to make creative changes. Example: you can make an orange/red tulip pink. You simply take the thread of the color you want and follow the shading instructions (highlights, midtones and shadows). Is it expensive? Yes, but if the tip of the needle is relaxing and helps pass the time, then this is a great buy. To my knowledge, it costs almost $11 for two hours of cinema. For around $27 I get countless hours of fun entertainment plus the fact that I can keep a beautiful pillow for years after I've finished it.

Pros
  • The finished embroidered floral bouquet pattern looks great in a frame or can be used as a colorful throw pillow!
Cons
  • No instructions
