That's more than I was expecting, but the noise is VERY loud and clearly an emergency call, not just a high-pitched squeak. My overprotective mom and boyfriend approve. I bought this for protection when going to/from the car to work/home. I was concerned that it would be too easy to activate/pull, but it takes a strong pull to separate the pieces. I keep it on my keychain and not worried about accidentally disturbing it. I will definitely buy them again and may buy them as stockings for female members of my family in the future. For those confused by the design, the "knob" is actually where the sound is made. I've attached a picture for scale with my car keys and planner because I envisioned something larger than a USB. So far very happy with the purchase!
