What an engaging layout, well-designed buttons, and practical features! HOWEVER, that horrible noise! The sound quality of many wireless mobile speakers is significantly improved. I went into the closet and got the desktop defender spk-530 (which retails for 400), and now they sound significantly better and have more bass than this radio tape recorder does. Given all of Sony's other strengths, it is unfortunate that the company chose to install speakers of such poor quality. Various pros: Interesting design. Control buttons that are easy to use and have a firm motion (at the same time they do not click like cheap plastic). Sleep timer! I am grateful to cds. It might be very relaxing to put on some old CDs and listen to them. Automated search for available radio stations (it's unfortunate that the memory can only hold 20 stations at a time). Having this drawback: Terrible sound quality in comparison to the cost. Certain frequencies are cut. It lacks bass.
