Review on Perfect Pet Tubby Unbreakable LEXAN by Elsa Ferrell

GENERAL THOUGHT: This door serves my purpose. High quality frame and flap for interior door. I had someone install it for me and they said it was very easy. I like how you can see through the valve as I think my cat will be less scared. The door is way too big for my fat cat (although I read the measurements). Things I don't like anymore after just one day of use. I think the red dial is cheaply made. It's not easy to turn around. Lid lock and combination lock are not suitable for changing lock patterns. There is about an inch of rubber to the right of the lock that seems to fit the lock better than the brush. At first I thought the flap wasn't fitted correctly prior to boxing, but upon examination I found that it was correct. Super weird. I had to take multiple shots each time I fiddled with the door to actually lock it the way I wanted it (both sides are locked at the moment). This is not a door that you can lock and assume worked. When trying, I had to hold the door open and reach on both sides of the door not only to check, but to properly align the flap and lock. Grrr. My advice to anyone looking at this door. 1) The lock is a pain. If you want the door to be just there, and you rarely change the position of the lock, then most likely it will suit your needs. 2) THIS IS NOT AN EXTERNAL CAT FLAP! As another reviewer said and in my opinion this is NOT SECURE for an exterior door. For predators of animal and human persuasion. It is very large and the lock can be picked without much effort. If you live somewhere other than a temperate climate, it's very energy inefficient in winter and summer because it's made of thin plastic, and again, it's very large. Personally I wouldn't even use it on my garage door but my garage is unfinished and I live up north. I would say) this door is still solid. I measured from the description but it's still probably a lot larger than what you need. I think even a medium sized dog could go through this to be honest. CONCLUSION: If I had to buy a different cat door, I would try something different. It's good enough to make me want to leave now and not go through the return process, but not good enough to keep me from looking back next time.
