Review on Travel In Style: Refillable Leather Notebook Cover For Small Journals by Alex Winnick

The Traveler's Notebook craze has been hitting some of the fountain pen, art, journaling, and lettering groups, so I wanted to try it out. The notebook cover has a FAR nicer price than the Traveler's company version. The leather is soft, has a nice 'new leather shoe' smell, and has no knots in the areas where a person would write. In the cover is a dotted insert that feathers only a little on fountain pen ink. An extra band is included if you wanted to have up to 3 inserts.This notebook cover lays completely flat--I didn't like the bumps in the top spine and back cover of the Traveler's Company notebooks. Also, it has an extra elastic and is packaged very carefully. I only docked one star (I wish there was a half-star option), because the raw edges of the leather seem to fray super easily. I'll have to buy either gum tragacanth or some finish to seal the edges. Other than that, I can see September Leather put in careful thought and design into their elegant product!(Note to manufacturer: If you make a version with smooth or burnished edges and a smooth inner side--I'd certainly be interested in repurchasing.)
