I've been doing 3D printing for many years, but so far I've only had experience with FFD printers. None of them compare to the quality I experienced on my first print on this machine. So far I've only printed a photon grating test cube, but it shows me what can be achieved with this machine and tells me that if I can't print in the future it's most likely a flaw in my design, not the capabilities of the Photon itself. . Having never used an SLA printer before, I was surprised that I was able to get the perfect model on my first try. Something I didn't experience at all with my first FFD printer. The machine was easy to set up and there were clear instructions on what I needed to do to get the machine up and running. There are also an almost endless number of online guides as well as Facebook groups dedicated to these machines, so there is always someone who can help. The machine itself takes up very little space on the table, which is very different from a large area. my other 3D printers. It also seems to be a lot quieter than other printers I have, which is also a plus. There is a slight smell of tar coming from the machine, but nothing overwhelming yet. I can look into ways to minimize these odors since I have one in a small office. Overall I would say that if you are looking to get started with SLA printing then you should check out Photon. The price of this machine has come down quite a bit since its inception, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in quality. There are other faster/better machines from Anycubic, but if you want a proven machine that won't break the bank, check out the Photon. I'm glad I did.
