I bought this instead of digital calipers for $10 because I felt there was less error and I could use it occasionally and sporadically. must be measured with a caliper. Yes, I shouldn't have ruled out much because of the price, but it's terrible. It can break quickly with a cheap digital caliper, but you can at least use it a few times before it dies. The thing is basically useless. I'll list the reasons, even for $13 it's complete bullshit.1. One of the main reasons I bought this instead of a plastic saddle is that it has a set screw. This way I can measure something in a dark place (like under a car) and then put the caliper in a better light to read the measurement. The set screw on this is not tightened. I kept twisting it and it was like the threads had been snapped. The bolt never locked and actually falls out when you shake the caliper bolt down. 2. This thing is hard to reset. There's some play in it, so if you slide it all the way and then press hard, it kind of resets to zero. But when you take a measurement, you never know if it will actually reset to zero.3. The lines are too thick for the 0.02 measurement. This thing could potentially go to 0.1, but even then I find it disabled due to zero issues. For caliper size, the lines must be smaller to get a reading below tenths.
