I returned the first one because of this problem, the replacement does the same. It must be a design flaw. It appears to be a good speaker except that there is some processor/electronics noise which is particularly noticeable when there is no music or sound being sent to the speaker. None of my other Bluetooth speakers do this. When I'm connected to the speaker with my S9 and no sound is streaming to the speaker and I'm downloading or running an app, I hear a very noticeable electronic static noise coming from the Bluetooth speaker. It's as if it's somehow picking up noise from the processor or electronics in the phone. Moving the bluetooth speaker further does not reduce the noise, so there is no EMI directly to the speaker, the noise is somehow related to the bluetooth audio stream itself. When sound is sent to the speaker, I don't really notice much hissing even at low volume, but if I pause or close the app, etc., the hissing comes back. This speaker has already started to fail. It has been used less than 20 times and will no longer hold a charge nor last long (5-10 minutes) even when connected to a known good charger and cable.
