It was a cheap price, but the price matched the quality. The blades were noted by others as used and looked very worn. Mine weren't sharp and I had to go over 1 piece of fabric 6 times to cut it. So 4 layers is definitely not possible. Because the blades are so dull they pull on the fabric causing streaks and snags on my fabric. It was a good idea, but worth the extra $5-6 for a well-known brand. I have just started using the cutter and unfortunately my return date has already passed or I would not have returned.
