For many years we had a Toshiba Satellite laptop which before Roku and many other alternatives was mainly used just to stream some programs to our TV. It stood for years and when my wife's monitor broke we used it temporarily until a new monitor arrived. However, she liked it much better than the new monitor which was too bright and really better for streaming than a viable computer monitor... Acer SB220Q bi 21.5" Full HD Ultra-Thin Zero Frame Monitor (HDMI & VGA connection). Unfortunately Windows Vista and the small hard drive were a problem as she has a PC but here she prefers Ubuntu. This HD was perfect for giving her plenty of room for anything she wanted to download and I installed the latest version of Ubuntu LTS. The HD was easy to swap out and access via the boot disk was no problem.Since we share a printer I have now put the HD in my tower with my Windows 10 Pro clone and with the extra space I have too Added Ubuntu to work alongside to make networking easier There are no complaints and my success buying used drives especially 3.5" drives has not been impressive hence the purchase a new drive is a much better choice. A clean install of the operating system really sped up the process, and the LTS beta is downloaded much less frequently. I now have an old HD with Windows just in case and there is plenty of room to use it as a storage device with the UBS MQ01ABD050V hard drive adapter cable I bought.
